About me

Former family lawyer, now offering a calmer way through divorce.

My background

I read English at Brasenose College, Oxford, before completing the Postgraduate Diploma in Law and the Legal Practice Course, both with distinction, at The College of Law in London.

I trained at the country’s number one firm for family law, Manches LLP in London, now Penningtons Manches Cooper LLP, before qualifying into their family department where I represented people dealing with all aspects of divorce, separation and children issues, often at moments of significant emotional and financial pressure.

What became increasingly clear to me was that the traditional legal system does not always support people through separation in a calm, proportionate way. Solicitor-led processes are structured around formality, procedure and billable time, which often pushes matters towards escalation even when neither party wants conflict. I frequently found myself constrained by a system that left little room for emotional support or early resolution.

While taking time away from full-time legal practice to raise my children, I continued to offer informal advice within my local network. Over time, it became clear that this kind of early, realistic, human support was exactly what many people needed – often before involving solicitors at all.

In 2014, I set up my practice to offer exactly that.

Today, I work with individuals and couples – married and unmarried, from all walks of life and across the financial spectrum – who are seeking clarity, practical guidance and support without immediately entering an adversarial legal process. I also assist many clients who are already involved in litigation and need help navigating the challenges that come with it.

Drawing on my background and breadth of experience, I help clients understand what is legally realistic, identify opportunities to avoid conflict and work towards constructive, sustainable agreements. At the same time, I recognise that separation is not just a legal or financial process. It is also a deeply personal one. I support clients through the difficult conversations, boundary-setting and emotional pressures that often accompany relationship breakdown, helping them move forward with greater confidence and clarity.

Alongside my professional experience, I’m also a wife and a mother to two children. I’ve experienced a demanding career, stepped away from it, and returned to work in a way that feels more meaningful. That combination – legal expertise, lived experience and a deep understanding of the pressures modern families face – shapes how I work with every client.

My approach is professional but informal, calm but clear-headed. The aim is always the same: to help people move forward with clarity, dignity, and as little conflict as possible.

Why work with me?

Former family lawyer — outside the system that profits from conflict

I trained and worked as a family lawyer, so I understand family law in depth – but just as importantly, I understand how the family law system operates day to day. Traditional solicitor-led divorce is built around formal processes, correspondence, and billable hours. Even when everyone’s intentions are good, the system itself often comes with delay, complexity, and adversarial positioning.

Because I no longer work within a law firm, I’m not incentivised to prolong matters or escalate disputes. My role is to help you reach clarity and resolution as efficiently and calmly as possible; not to keep the process going.

Save time, stress, and legal costs – by avoiding unnecessary escalation

Many divorces become expensive not because they need to, but because once solicitors are involved, communication often shifts into a defensive, adversarial mode. Letters are exchanged, positions harden, and costs mount – even when both parties ultimately want something reasonable.

By helping you understand your position early, I can often prevent issues from escalating in the first place. Clients regularly tell me that a small amount of guidance at the right moment has saved them months of stress and significant legal fees.

Realistic advice shaped by how courts and solicitors actually behave

There’s a difference between what sounds fair in principle and what tends to happen in reality. Because I’ve worked inside the system, I’m able to give an honest view of how judges, solicitors, and mediators are likely to approach your situation.

This realism often brings relief. It helps people step away from unrealistic expectations, focus on workable outcomes, and reach agreement more quickly without being driven by fear or false assumptions.

A human approach – not legal posturing

Once a matter enters the formal legal process, communication can quickly become rigid, cautious, and impersonal. People often feel spoken about rather than spoken to.

My work is deliberately different. Conversations are plain-English, calm, and focused on what actually matters to you. There’s no legal posturing, no intimidating environment, and no pressure to “fight” simply because that’s how the system tends to operate.

Focused on resolution, not on prolonging dispute

In traditional legal settings, resolution often comes slowly – sometimes after significant emotional and financial cost. My focus is on helping you move forward sooner, with agreements that are realistic, proportionate, and sustainable.

Where solicitors are needed, I help you to use them strategically and sparingly, keeping the process aligned with your goals rather than allowing it to drift into conflict for conflict’s sake.

Start with clarity.

Divorce doesn’t need to go hand in hand with conflict or court. I can give informed, practical guidance to help you keep hostility and costs to a minimum.
